What is a Virtual Private Server (VPS)?
A Virtual Private Server is a server divided into fully separate hosting environments. When you have VPS hosting, one of those environments is completely dedicated to you. That means you don't have to share resources (such as RAM or CPU) with other customers and you're less likely to be impacted by their behavior.
What about VPS vs. Dedicated?
Another great question. A dedicated server is a server that's literally dedicated to you and no one else, which means the world (or in this case, server) is your oyster. Learn more about the benefits of VPS and Dedicated here.
How do I get started with VPS hosting?
Our KnowledgeBase will walk you through exactly how to upgrade to a VPS. Then you can check out these essential first steps.
And if you really want to go for it, you can read up on more general information about VPS here.
Wait… if we're talking about a VPS, what is a VPN then?
Yup, it can be a little confusing. But a virtual private server (VPS) is a form of web hosting, while a virtual private network (VPN) is a technology that allows you to remain completely anonymous when using the web. Read up more on VPS vs. VPN here.
When should I use VPS hosting over Shared?
In short, a virtual private server is ideal for users looking for more control over their hosting environment. Maybe your site traffic has grown, or maybe you have multiple websites and need more resources to run them all effectively. A VPS gives you more flexibility and control to bump up things like RAM and disk space without paying for more than you need.

I already have hosting, but want to switch to VPS. Any tips?
If you’re switching from Shared, Reseller, or Dedicated hosting to a virtual private server, the process is pretty simple. You’ll just have to transfer your files, change the DNS, and cancel your old plan. For more details into this process, check out this article on switching to VPS.

Web Hosting Features
Dive deeper into our web hosting features.
Can I host a Laravel Application on my domain?
Yes! CloudExis lets you host Laravel applications from the web panel. When installing a site, you can either pick from installing a "skeleton", or installing from a remote repository. If you pick the skeleton option, it will give you a blank slate to work with! The remote option lets you pull your code from GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, or from your own server.
What stats can I see?
Our web panel shows you a number of statistics about your website. Using the statistics page, you can see how much traffic you have used, and how much disk space you have used. From the Web Statistics link, you can see how many visits your page got, what pages they went to, and where they came from. It also shows you a graph so you can compare from the last few months!
Do emails and MySQL databases count towards my plans storage?
Yes, the storage used by your emails and databases do count towards your overall disk space usage.
How do I backup my website?
Our panel will let you create local backups of your files that get saved right to our machine, so they are easily restored. You can also back up your data to Google Drive using the same menu, or even do both!
How do I get a free SSL certificate
When you make your site, our panel will automatically get a free SSL certificate ready for you. You just need to go in and click a few buttons! Don't worry about them renewing either, because our panel takes care of that too!
How do I look at my logs?
Finding and looking through your website's logs are a breeze with our panel. You will be able to see all sorts of useful information, like the visitor's IP, where they went, and what type of browser they were using. The date is also saved. Sorting through the logs is also really easy, thanks to the filters!

Permissions & Privacy
We take security & privacy seriously.
Do you support 2FA?
Yes! Our panel will let you set up a 2FA code that secures your account on demand. It isn't forced on you, but we do recommend using it!
Do I have to agree to the cookies?
It depends. Cookies are used to securly log you in and protect your account from unauthorized access. The cookies that track you are 100% blockable though!
What is your security policy?
Our security policy requires a strong password, so you aren't able to use password1234 to log in. Other then that, we have no more strict requirements.
Who can see my data?
Only you and our staff team can see your data. No-one else has access to the databases, and we have a strict security requirement for our servers.
Domain Privacy
CloudExis does not sell domains (yet!), but we do recommend using Namecheap for all of your domain needs. They offer WHOIS Privacy Protection for free. It is even on by default when placing orders!

Pricing & Plans
Learn about plans, payments, and more.
What currency do you support?
CloudExis operates in the United States of America, so by default, we use the US Dollar, or the USD. We do accept many different types of currencies through our payment portals. We do not accept KPW or CNY for any transactions
Can I pay in Crypto?
Yes! We offer Coinbase as one of our payment methods, so you can pay in any of the major coins! We accept other coins as well, but you will need a support ticket to pay in them, sadly.
How long do the discount codes last?
It depends on the type of code! See below for the types we have:
Partner Coupons: Until you cancel your services
Sale Coupons: For 1 month
Special Event Coupons: For 3 months
Do you charge fees?
CloudExis only has fees on certain products. We do charge a $2 extra fee on any 18 month or more plans, to cover ICANN fees. Other than that fee, IP Hosting is the only other product that charges fees. You can see those here: IP Hosting Fee Schedule
With ASN registrations, do we get charged monthly?
We charge yearly for all of our ASNs. The only monthly charge would be the IPv4 or IPv6 IP blocks you order as addons.
Do you price match?
No, we do not price match. Due to the highly competitive field we operate in, some of our competitors drop their prices to the point they cannot sustain themselves. If we were to offer that level of matching, it would be detrimental to our success as a business, and your success as a client.

IPs & Networking
Learn about our networking
What provider do you use for your routers?
Our main provider when it comes to hosting our BGP routers is Vultr. We are looking to expand to other providers, but as of right now, they are our only provider
If I buy IPs from you, will I be able to use my ASN?
No. Sadly, unless you rent a /24, you will not be able to announce your IPs from your own ASN. Any IPs you get from our VPS or IP Block services will be marked under the CloudExis LLC ASN
Why are your prices so high?
Our pricing accounts for numerous things, such as the IP cost, bandwidth costs, payment fees, and tax.
How much do you charge per TB?
Pricing for an additional terrabyte of bandwidth is $10 USD. We hope that in the future, we will be able to move to a provider that does not charge insane amounts.
Do you charge a setup fee?
We will only charge a setup fee if you need our networking specialists to set your router for you. If you can do it yourself, you will not be charged!
Are your IPs under ARIN or RIPE?
All of our IPs are under our RIPE ASN.
